Mainly the real Illusions stuff, but also a lot of older stuff too. Passion and warfare and some Fire Garden etc.
He also did a really ace acoustic set with sisters, rescue me or bury me and a few others.
Also one new song which I have forgotten the name of, but it was a goodie- slow ballad like in same vein as Lotus feet.

Eric Sardinas is also great, if you haven't seen him before.
Enjoy!

really good actually, yeah! All the guys looked like they were having a lot of fun on stage, it was a really good atmosphere. There seems to a preconception among a lot of people of Vai & his contemporaries as egotistic...but they all seemed really humble and just generally nice guys. They played a new song too (I'm Becoming?), which was really good actually, the start of it reminded me of Jeff Beck. I really enjoyed 'My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama', much better than the version on the G3 dvd IMO.

Still not too convinced by Jeremy Colson on drums though; and i wasnt particularly impressed by Vai's guitar tone either, but hey, i'm splitting hairs! It was all good really, and you definitely get your money's worth with Vai. Acoustic set was really good too, good to hear some Fire Garden stuff in there! And Eric Sardinas was all good too - nice to hear him play 'Cradle Rock'! :D
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

Great!!
Tend to agree with most of stuff you say.
But I am still a great Vai fan, he really is a consumate and awesome musician.

However I prefer Bucketheads music these days.

As you can prob see from the Avatar.

Thanks for the advice and having listened to some of the sound clips on the site,  at the moment I am leaning towards the Crawler set.

Placed my order with Tim today for Calibrated Cammo Crawler set and new electronics, Stetsbar to follow elsewhere.
Will post some pics when I'm done!!

Yeah, Vai is definitely quite the showman, but that is part of what people pay for.  He backs it up with incredible ability, although his facial expressions are the most wacked out I've ever seen.  Of course, a true egotist could never go on tour with such an all-star group of guys.  I saw Vai and Sheehan doing battling guitars (they seriously did some damage) in 1986 on the Eat Em and Smile tour in Little Rock Arkansas of all places.  It was the loudest and best concert I've ever seen.  In the middle part, Roth went surfing over the crowd and all the chicks went back to watch him and all the guys went forward to watch Steve and Billy do their solo/duet bits.  I actually moved 2 inches on flat feet to the right during Billy's multi-string tapping solo, totally awesome...

Well here it is all done!!

Sounds and looks great I think, I fitted a push pull pot to coil tap the pickups and completely renewed all the electronics.

Also fitted grover locking tuners which bolted straight on and make for perfect tuning stability with the stetsbar.

The whole project cost me around £500 so with the cost of the guitar makes the whole thing about a grand, but I did manage to sell the old pups on eBay for £65.

You might say coulda bought a Gibson for that....But you certainly couldn't get a Zakk LP Custom!! It may not be a Gibson but I am very pleased with the results & have got for myself a totally unique instrument.

Also having prev owned a Gibbo LP Custom I reckon this is 95% as good.

The Crawlers sound Great both normal and with the coil taps, more than enought output to give a good clear ringing tone.
Much better than the Stock EMG pickups that I removed.
Thanks for all your help Tim.

Crawlers were a very interesting choice for a ZW LP. may i ask why yu chose those (yeah, i guess you liked the sound of crawlers!, but i would have thought, given your choice of guitar, yu were more into the uber heavy Zakk sound?) i would'a had miracle men on that beast in seconds!

No probs, to be honest I am not particularly into the Zakk Sound but mainly liked the Guitar design.

Chose the Crawlers after listening to the clips on the site.
