pups for SG
« on: November 13, 2005, 10:19:29 PM »
I have tried several different brands & style pickups in my SG & I just cant seem to find the right sound. I play blues & classic rock. I have Rio Grandes BBQ's in the guitar now & they have a muddy tone. I'm thinking about a Crawler set, but I dont want to spend a lot of money and find out they have a muddy tone or a weak sound. Please, somebody, let me know how they stand up to other brands. Thanks.
if I had the answers I'd be rich

Riff Raffs are THE pickup for SG's. They do what the BBQ's are supposed to do. Crawlers are great too, I have 'em in a Yamaha SG. Others have fitted them in Epi/Gibson SG's with great results. The Crawler has plenty of output and quite alot of midrange but they're not muddy at all. They're great for classic rock and blues. The cleans are great too, nice full bodied tone.
