PUPS for relic SG
« on: December 31, 2009, 09:21:23 PM »
MY girlfriend bought me the coolset relic'd SG from a company she found on EBAY called Blackpoole relics.  It has a bigsby, and aged nickel hardware. The guitar is black and worn in all the right places. It's a great looking relic.

I'm not sure of the wood it's made of or what pickups are in it, but my guess is that they are not going to be top notch. It's being set up now so I haven't even played it yet, but I know I'll want to swap out the PUPS asap. I play rock/hard rock.

Any suggestions?

Firstly a (belated ) "Welcome to the forum" . :)

I am not a user of the pickups I am about to mention ;  but 'recieved wisdom' makes me think you will be inundated with suggestions for ( Retro - with attitude ) Riff Raffs - or perhaps the crossover between hard and traditional - Cold Sweats.

I hope 'Twinfan' sees your post, as his advice / experience would be most apt for your current situation, having been the 'Angus' in an AC/DC tribute band ( amongst other projects ) for some time.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I appreciate your input and hope Twinfan sees my post as well.  I can't wait to dial this guitar in and put it to use!

You want Riff Raffs for rock or Stormy Mondays for blues/jazz.  Metal?  You want Warpigs.

Here endeth today's SG pickup lesson.....
