Question for all the Sinner users
« on: November 21, 2005, 05:38:20 AM »
I want to put Mother's Milks in the neck and middle positions of my Carvin Bolt-T(Strat copy). It's got a humbucker in there now but I'm seriously thinking about putting a Sinner in there instead. I love what I've heard in the Player's forum.

A few questions though if I may. How does it sound with less than super-high gain? All the clips seem pretty shred orientated and I was wondering how it handles less gain. How well does it clean up?

Thanks in advance.

Eric

Hi Eric. The Sinner cleans up fine. That is, it sounds good clean and well as dirty. And a slight breakup sounds great. It's quite a versatile pickup, actually. However, when it's clean it doesn't have that sweet single coil sound like, say, an Apache. It has a stronger, fatter sound--a little bit like a P90.

I'm gonna see if I can get around to posting a clip soon for you and others to hear how the Sinner works doing some bluesy stuff. I'll have to blow the cobwebs off my playing though.

Thanks!

Sounding P-90 like in the bridge would be pretty sweet as I have never been fond on stock strat bridge pickups. That's why I put a bucker in there origanally. But it doesn't split well at all. So I want to simplify and go with the 3 singles.

I just get floored every time I hear it distort. I'm looking forward to the clip.

Thanks again.

Eric

Both my Apaches and IT sets distort beautifully. They are really fat and pucnhy with lots of attack and gain. They are nothing like stock fender pup, and kill other brands like Seymour Duncan. ever noticed, Seymour Duncan, SD, Satan Devil. hmmm... ;)

Best regards
