I've been looking at the Egnater stuff, which looks pretty interesting.  I like the look of the modular amps, but it looks like they only come in rack format these days.

Egnater really is the way to go I think.

Jon @ Feline can give you every detail you need to know and he owns about three touring rigs worth of Randall/Egnator gear.

I'm sure Randall do a twin module combo which would suit you.

No - the Egnaters come in head and combo form as well
I choose the rack versions because I am greedy and want 8 channels of goodness and because then I can choose what power amp and how much output I use

MJW made me a great mono power amp for home use -10w that is plenty loud enough to annoy the neighbours but you could use anything from a Mesa or Marshall 20w per side to a huge 100w+ per side depending upon your needs

Look out for the new E2 amp expander/preamp that could be used with your Orange if it has an FX loop and will allow another 4 channels (2 modules)

All good stuff, chaps - I think that the Engater stuff (not just the modular amps, the whole range) is well and truely on my radar.

However, I have just re-valved my Orange, and I've managed to squeeze something a little special out of it - I put E34Ls in instead of EL34s, and it sounds amazing - very Fendery.

The only thing it lacks is a clipping section, but a nice pedal board helps that somewhat...

Still like the Egnater stuff though...

Or possibly an MJW Roadstar 36 tweaked to have a fendery vibe with 6V6's.

Unless you're playing modern metal I'd always recommend an MJW of some kind.

Vox is great for bright/sparkly. I used to play mainly classic rock, but always went for that real bright edge instead of the darker tones you'd usually find. And I always used Vox amps. There was a Vox 2x12 I was about.. |---| <-- That close to buying before I made my permanent switch to Prog/Metal. I believe it was a Custom Classic 30w.

Even my 15w Extreme Lead Vox amp is pretty bright and they tried to market that toward Metal/Hard Rock players.
