Same guitar, different style...
« on: January 31, 2010, 04:30:03 PM »
Ok, so I've already posted a thread about recommending BKPs for my Cort X-11 to get a modern rock type sound. But now, after blocking off the trem, I'm starting to think it may be better for low tunned metal than the guitar I have been using for that (longer scale and locking nut). So now that the roles are reversed, I'm once again lost as to the pickups to get.

To recap, it's a basswood/flamed maple super strat body, with a bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fretboard and a locking trem. I'm looking for something to handle low tunings (B or C standard for the most part) to play things like Arch Enemy, In Flames, Soilwork, heavier Dream Theater and so on. For the bridge I want something with a tight bass, enough treble to keep everything clear, yet not get harsh. I tend to use a reasonable amount of mids as well.

In the neck, a smoother lead sound is what I'm after. Nice cleans and splitable coils for both pickups would be good too.

From looking around the forum, it seems that the Miracle Man, Painkiller, Warpig and Nailbomb (perhaps ceramic) are the ones most recommended in this kind of situation.

Much appreciated  :D

EDIT: I forgot to mention, my amp is an Engl Screamer 50
