Pickups for a Cort
« on: January 27, 2010, 11:31:04 PM »
A while back I posted a thread asking for pickup suggestions:

http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=19050.msg256402#msg256402

Now that I'm getting the money together I should be able to get a nice set soon, but I've got a couple more questions before I do...

I'll likely go for Antag's suggestion of a Nailbomb (b) and either a Nailbomb or Cold Sweat (n). How do these compair to each other? Also, I'm thinking of replacing the single coil while I'm at it; what would work well with either set?

Finally, I'm having trouble deciding on colour options...I know open black would work, but it just seems a little...boring. Anyone have suggestions of what bobbin colours/covers might look good in this guitar?

EDIT: On second thought, I've decided I'm probably going to take the single coil out of the circuit, since I rarely use it. Comparison between NB and CS neck as well as cover suggestions are still welcome.

I have an Irish Tour in my HSH Nailbomb set and it works really well with them.  As for colours, it looks pretty good with the black, so I would stick with that (all black open coils on the humbuckers and a black cover on the single coil).
So many pickups, so little time

I do like the open black, but I'm still curious about some of the other options. Some I've been thinking about are reverse zebra, chrome (perhaps with black allen bolts?) and even burnt chrome.

You know black works, zebra always works with figured tops, and burnt chrome looks great with red finishes, so it's entirely up to you :D

Has anyone got pictures of burnt chrome in a red guitar? Especially if it's got maple top/black hard ware. I think most burn chrome covers I've seen have been in black or sunburst guitars.

I don't know why, but I always find small decisions like this rather difficult
