Oldschool Thrash Tone

I am absolutely falling in love with Dan Spitz guitar tone cira Spreading The Disease and Among The Living. If you watch the later part of the vid he goes off into a sick solo. Just wondering what type of pickup you would say is most suited to his tone during the early anthrax years. (for a guitar thats full on mahogany but with a maple top and ebony board)

After 2 days with my Miracle Man in an Ibanez which is Mahogany with a maple cap, I'll say that it can handle 80's thrash tones in an amazing way. The Sheer tightness and clarity from any DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA-DUGGA Riff is a joy to behold.

all the ceramic models will work, but for mahogany I'd pick the cold sweat

The Miracle Man is a great pickup. It can go from an 80s thrash pure-bred through to a brutal, modern hardcore machine (although it is quite dependent on the guitar in which is sits, as are all BKPs!) in the blink of an eye, and although the cleans aren't 'sparkly' or '3-dimensional', they are more than passable. Everything in between is possible (although probably handled better by other pickups in the BKP range), too.

MM gets my vote!

Ah the Sgt. Nick Fury Jackson. A bit smaller than the regular RR as he's a midget. The pickup will be some old Jackson ceramic jobbie I guess. That guitar was in the Philadelphia hard rock cafe rotting.

I always thought Anthrax's sound was more A5 than ceramic personally, but I suppose a Miracle Man could def do the trick.

I have space in my life for both aspects of Anthrax's Career. I was a big Armoured Saint fan so love the Anthrax stuff with John Bush too :0)
If Scott Ian hadn't shaved his head he would still look the same now anyway, he was going bald in the mid 80's  :D :D

FWIW I seem to remember that Scott Ian used to use Duncan JBs. I don't have one but the nearest BKP is supposed to be the Holy Diver.
I don't have one of those either.
But I do have a custom pickup that Tim made me that's not a million miles away from either of those so just for fun I played a bit of 'thrax this morning before work and blimey it sounded quality.
