I've recently started a new big project. Trying to build my own guitar, (with quite a bit of help from a guy i know, who has done this on many occasions) But as opposed to his style (old school rock/jazz/blues) i'm kinda ambitious, and i'm kinda all over the place, "inspiration-wise".  My main influences would be Muse (Nailbomb), and Avenged Sevenfold (Seymour Duncan Invaders) and loads of other bands like Green Day (with P-90's).

I'm building my guitar with an Ash body, Maple Neck, and a rosewood fretboard, sorta in a fused shape between a tele and a les paul, with a bit of Jaguar in there too.  The plan is for this to be a light, shred guitar, that can be used while jumping up and down on stage (as opposed to my current Les pauls).

About 5 months ago, i joined a new metal band, and we're begining to get more and more serious, so i'd like to have something a bit more appropriate than my les pauls, for the metal style.  But bearing in mind that Avenged sevenfold is the closest i get to metal, personally.

I first considered going for a Nailbomb for the bridge, because i adore the sound of Matt Bellamy's guitar, but was later suggested to get the Miracle Man in the bridge instead.  But as far as the neck's concerned, i'm still not sure..  i would like a quite noticable difference between the two, but not necesarilly vintage, just warmer. (Not to mention any rivals, but i was considering to get a P-rail from Seymour Duncan, but dont really sound that warm..)  any suggestions for either pickups?

Nailbomb sounds about right to me, for all of it. Very versatile, should cover all your bases.

If you go with a Cold Sweat in the bridge then the same in the neck's a good match, obviously. If you're looking for something a bit sweeter and warmer but still in the same territory, you might try out an Abraxas (especially good in the neck position, think Santana lead stuff) or perhaps a custom Cold Sweat with an alnico magnet as that would soften it up a bit.

I like the Nailbomb but personally I've never found it as versatile as the Cold Sweat, it seemed a bit dark on a clean setting.

Is it a bolt-on neck? (I don't think this affects tone quite as much as people say, just interested!)

cold sweat = bright
cold sweat + ash = ultra bright

an alnico cs would be an underwound nailbomb
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat
