FX Loop and Stuff
« on: April 22, 2010, 11:02:08 AM »
So, my setup is as follows:

Egnater Renegade
Framus cab
Guitar > Devi Ever Punch Love > Korg Pitch Black > Renegade
FX Send > Eventide ModFactor > BiYang delay > FX Return

I've noticed that I get massive modulating feedback now when I use the second channel on the Renegade with the ModFactor engaged, regardless of the FX setting.  Didn't used to get this when the pedal was direct into the front of the amp.

Is this usual?

Mark.

Daft question but since you didn't mention it I'll ask.
Is the Modfactor set to Line or AMP Level on the switch at the back?

Not a daft question at all.

When using it inline I had it set for that - in the loop, I dropped both switches down to the other setting, as suggested in the manual.  I also changed the buffer setting to "off", assuming that this would be preferable in the FX look...  might play with this a bit to see if it's better on...

It's only on the higher gain settings that I get the squeal...

It's so long since I had an FX loop or a posh pedal like the Modfactor I may be talking cr@p.

Assuming the Egnator is line level Loop out then in on the Modfactor should be line but out should be AMP as you're feeding another pedal which is expecting an instrument level signal, maybe, I'm in over my head, but instinct tells me that that is how to set it.

The Egnator FX loop is buffered anyway so maybe leaving that off in the Modfactor is correct.

I'm afraid that's as far as I can go, I should never reply in the Tech section  :D

Actually, that makes sense...

Will have a play later.

So, I had a switch about on the ModFactor, changing the input and output switches between line and guitar, and also playing with the signal boost.

Nothing really makes a difference.  Howls like a pig when the gain is cranked on the red channel.

Not really a biggie, because is sounds fine out of the fx loop.  It's just a shame not to have the function available - it does just seem like the Eventide pedal and the Engater don't like each other..
