Strange thing confidence. You have to find a mid point.
Not enough of it or too much of it can have the same effect on your playing.
As for the cr@p amp,I take it you didn't get the gig.

actually i did get it, but it wasnt really something that i wanted to do, cos it was like Stereophonics and Oasis and i just wanted to kick out the jams! :D I know what you mean, though, too much can backfire too. I also went to an audition a while back with all these older guys. they were up for jamming over some Hendrix and Mayfield, whilst i was in the middle of my John Petrucci phase, just happily shredding away with a nice amp! i mean, i played well technically, but it wasnt right for that music...my fault! thankfully, ive matured a little since then! and fair play to the guy who did get the lead parts, he started the auditions and he played simple but perfect for that music.

I find the best mindset to be in for playing has no confidence at all-not high confidence and not low confidence, just to the point where confidence is not an issue at all...a place where your mind is clear and fresh and you can just play.
