Some help for a beginner!
« on: May 09, 2010, 12:20:47 PM »
Hey guys,

I was hoping i'd be able to get some advice on selecting a pickup. (Yep, another one of those questions)

I'm aiming to replace (firstly) the bridge pickup of my Schecter Hellraiser 7string, which I have been using for a band i've just joined (www.myspace.com/synthesist)

For some background, I'm going for a Threat Signal or Periphery kind of sound with guitars, but we're also fond off stuff like Scar Symmetry, so I guess it's a middle ground of that. We tune to B flat standard. Both old and new material has a strong emphasis on low-end rhythmic stuff.

I've been trying to get an idea of what might suit the sound through youtube videos, but if someone could maybe give me some recommendations I'd greatly appreciate it! The Players section was also a really good read/listen, lots of awesome ideas and demos going on over there. Cheers guys!

If you want to hear what an alnico Nailbomb 7 sounds like, I think the Red Seas Fire guys were using one in in an Ibby in a recording session video. Don't hold me to that though.

If it were me, I'd put a C-pig straight in there and start rattling windows on the spot. In for a penny, in for a pound.
