Just like the title states... the Phat Cats are the only Seymour Duncan pickup i have ever enjoyed.  I know i what i like about them and i know where their weaknesses lie... which brings me to the idea of Mississippi Queens.

I feel like these would probably have all the characteristics i liked about the PC, but with the clarity and articulation that BK brings to the table.  The only thing i'm worried about is the output... 7.5k is slightly less than my PC (8.5k) and i always felt like i wanted my PC a little hotter (in fact, i really NEED it, i play a particular type of metal that NEEDS to push my tube preamp a certain way...).  Tim said he can't fit any more wire in, to make a hotter MQ, so i'm wondering what the hell i should do - keep the Phat Cat or go ahead and try the MQ?

Would like to hear your thoughts on this, and if there's anything i can attempt to do with the compromise...
Am planning on having a Nailbomb or Cold Sweat in my other guitar, that gets played live along with this one live - a jump from 7.5k to 16k with guitars seems, undoubtedly like some tone/gain adjustment will be necessary, which i simply don't wanna have to deal with for live applications.

why not use a clean booster for the MQ equipped guitar and turn it off for the NB-CS guitar?

That's actually a great damn idea...

Any suggestions on one that has very transparent, non-coloring circuitry?

i quite like the triboost. it has a full frquency boost as well as classic boosts. that pretty much sums up my experience with boosts however ;)

I wouldnt worry about the MQs output it can keep up and sometimes dwarf my MM bridge thats in the same guitar.

Breaking Update: Dude, this will work....

Conveniently had a MXR micro amp pedal around that i was selling for a friend, pushes my tube distortion, makes it sound even more killer, and more compressed like a humbucker.  Craaaaaaaaaazy noisy though, as you might expect with a single coil---->boost pedal---->high gain tube preamp.  Hopefully the MQ will be a little quieter, otherwise my gate is gonna have quite a struggle trying to hold sustain yet keep noise quiet with the strings idle.... hahaha OH WELL. Rad suggestion +1 +1 A+
