I'm looking for a fat sounding articulate neck pickup for singing leads, fuller than the CS that I have, it's for an all mahogany schecter V (no maple top, rosewood fretboard)
That's definitely not the HD neck IMO.
The Miracle Man neck would be a good bet - it's very full & powerful but also very clear. Or perhaps the VHII neck if you wanted a more PAF-y "chime" in a pickup with a similar level of output to the CS. If it's any help, I did a neck lead shootout
here &
hereAs to the original question of this thread, no I don't think a Mule neck with an HD bridge would be a mistake - I've heard the Mule with a Miracle Man bridge & it seemed to balance OK.
There are probably some cimbinations that wouldn't work well (too full a neck with too bright a bridge or vice versa) & if you want to play safe, a calibrated set will always give you a combination that was designed to work well together, but the only neck pickups I've ever tried with other bridge models were CS (with MM & PK) & VHII (with NB, HD & MM) which have always worked OK.
