So I recently picked up a Sl2H in trans blue. Nice playing guitar but the JB is just terrible and muddy. I have a Miracle Man loaded Les Paul and a C-pig/MQ in my RG550. I want to try something else in this guitar but I will say I love the C-pig. It's probably my favorite pickup ever. I have been listening to clips and searching for opinions in previous posts. So far I really like the sound of Cold Sweats. Would these be overly bright? I also like some of the Holy Diver and Nailbomb clips. I want a Megadeth Peace Sells kind of rhythm tone, smooth fluid leads. I do not want anything kind of hairy with sharp edges. The Holy Diver sounded kind of hairy in some clips. LOL does that make sense? I'm not that good at being descriptive.

The miracle man sounds great in maple neck thru guitars like the Jackson

But Painkiller or Holy Diver will kick ass too

Yeah I may try swapping the miracle man out of my Les Paul into the Jackson to just try it out. I still think I want to try something else. I will email Tim before I make my decision. I just want to get your guys opinion as well.

Cold Sweat is not the pickup you want. Can be very bright. The MM is the logical choice, although I do like the Holy Diver-clips. That one is on my list. Now, first buy some guitars.

I want to try something different than the Miracle Man. I have a set in my Les Paul. The man suggested a Holy Diver set and that was one of the three I wanted to try. I believe that is the route to take. Anymore opinions before I pull the trigger? What flavor guitar would Cold Sweats work well in?

I find that the Cold sweat works very well in my Ibanez RGD, nothing fancy just basswood body maple neck rosewood board.. usual ibanez stuff.

At first i found it a bit bright in comparison the the MM i have in my Ibanez RGA but have balanced these now with some careful amp EQ and also adjusting the height on the pickups on both guitars.

I am however finding that i'm liking the CS more as its a bit edgier and a bit more precise than the MM.

Both work great for megadeth though.

I have the Cold Sweat set in my mahogany Mockingbird and they sound great.  They can go all the way from hard edged metal to blues (bear in mind that the mockingbird has the preamp and series/parallel switching).  The neck can give you fluid lead tone you are talking about.

miracle men do sound great in maple neck throughs as jonathan said.

i have cold sweat in maple neck through and they work fine - a sort of iron maiden type tone.

stay away from a painkiller in that axe if you don't want anything sharp. the holy diver will probably work quite nicely.

If you find the TB4 way toooooo muddy, then stay with a ceramic, maybe the C-Bomb ?

I find the MM Nails the early megadeth tones. Granted you have to roll off a bit of bass with the EQ but other than that its tonally spot on

the holy diver is the least hairy and most fluid bridge pickup I've ever tried
and still tight and very clear even in downtuned les pauls
