New BKP'd Bass
« on: November 19, 2010, 11:46:44 PM »
I just got some pictures of my new bass which John at Bravewood has built for me.  It is a mid-50's P Bass with the new BK stagger pole P-Bass pickup.  I won't get my greasy mits on it until next month, but John tells me it plays really well and sounds amazing.  It is based on one that Fender had at the 1955 NAMM show, in shell pink. I'll put bigger pictures up later (photobucket is down for maintenance).

So many pickups, so little time

It's as pink as a pink thing!

Thanks everyone.  I have a Strat in this colour (it is a hardtail) and also my 66 Precision is the same shell pink colour.  Though I was seriously impressed when I saw Mott the Hoople at the Apollo last year and Pete (Overend) Watts had an original Thunderbird II in shell pink!

Wow Phil! That's certainly a unique instrument.

since we're being honest - i actually really like the shell pink.. but i think the shell pink thumb rest might be a step too far. would love to hear how it sounds.

Really? This is one of the things I most liked! I'm not sure if I'd ever play with a pink instrument, but the pink thumb rest is a very cool detail IMO

Very nice. :D

I'm with Gwem - the pink is great on the guitar, not so sure about the thumb rest, though...

That was the way Fender made it for NAMM - at the time they were still making maple finger rests, so I guess they thought the pink looked better.
