RG7620 pickup swap
« on: January 16, 2011, 06:59:56 AM »
Hey i was wondering what do you guys suggest for a basswood tremelo 7 string 1999 rg7620. I play mostly metal but also play jazz and touchstyle guitar. I need something with a nice thick sound but with clarity. I've used warpigs in the past and like them but that was in a six string ibanez prestige rg1570. Both the 7620 and 1570 have almost the same specs except for one being a six and the other a seven. Is warpig the same path i should take?

MiracleMan in the bridge of a 7620 sounds killer (I had one in one of mine and I absolutely loved it)
can I be the devil on your shoulder?

The Warpigs seem surprisingly popular with jazz players and it's not a style I'd have naturally associated with that specification of pickup. I suppose it's the obvious choice so go with that. If it wasn't for the jazz requirement I'd have maybe said Holy Diver but in this case I think the Warpig might be better.

Dont forget if you are getting a pair of pickups for it that the neck one needs to have it's magnet reversed
