No V for me. But I want Painkillers....
« on: November 01, 2005, 01:04:48 PM »
The purchase of the guitar I was asking about new pickups for fell through. Oh well.

But I like the sound of these Painkillers (well, not the sound sound, but the description, you know what I mean!!)

So, I'm thinking about getting a guitar for the pickups.

I dont want to put them in any current guitars because they either have pickups well suited to them already or just arent good enough.

What combination of woods do you fellas at BKP would work well with the painkillers? I see they're in a les paul. Mahogany? What would they do in mahog body/maple neck (a favoured ballance of mine)...would the big midrange be too big in basswood? I want to keep it tight and sharp and use those big mids, but not let it get too overbearing in the mid or bass.

Any help, as always, appreciated!!
Mark

Scratch this guys, I just ordered a miracle man/uber trilogy set. It would be a little over-indulgant to still go through with the plan above!

Must......stop.....the......GAS.

LOve to mate. I'd have done some for my pig/tour set ages ago, but my PC is senile and the line in has given up the ghost. Sorry  :(

The dean dave.

I've bottled out of the SS refret as well: I'm just going for 18% nickel and we'll see how it lasts: the pressure on each guitar is less now I have a few anyway. So it should be running again pretty soon, w/ BKP set number 2  :D

Some fairly good news: I got the new frets through and they arent any taller than the old ones probably were before I dressed them (the reason for the fret change being a high nut, strange way to go about it I know, but I like big ass frets and couldnt be bothered with the hassle of going through every nut available and checking to see of its the appropriate 1/5 - 1/4 mm lower, then getting it in gold). So I'm just going to lower the nut maybe 1/4 mm, if that, and smack the BKPs straight in.

I never was very patient...

Tim, any news on the painkiller?

As soon as it's released, you can put me on the order list  :D
