Quick Aftermath Question
« on: February 26, 2011, 07:46:21 AM »
Can it do stuff like this but more clear and defined?- and yes i realize ceramic pigs would be better for this kind of music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqOHNS2cZCQ&feature=related

and also can it get you here if dialed in with lower gain? or would it be too contemporary sounding?

Im not trying to force a pickup to do anything- Its just that what I play is very hybridized and requires saturation but also needs good cut and note separation-dynamics too. I dont necessarily play those bands or want those tones, I just want to know if the Aftermath can do its own unique sound playing stuff like that while actually being somewhat suitable sounding. Thanks!

well, it sounds nothing like that at all

I'm pretty sure the nailbomb would do much better, at least for the bad brains stuff
Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

It could do it with the right amp, or wrong amp   But I agree with the other boys, a warpig or a nailbomb will get you were it sounds like you want to be better.

yeah im sure a c-pig would be more suitable for grind, and the nailbomb and a5 pig would be more suited for the oldschool hardcore stuff like the brains and the cro-mags and such- I was just wondering if the Aftermath can be dialed in for both extremes. I think its tight enough to get to the grind stuff but i was worried that it wouldnt be able to be tamed to do more organic stuff........Thanks for the responses

glad to give some of you guys a quick laugh on probably the Insect Warfare clip

To each their own- I love my grind!! haha

Be under no illusions, the aftermath is tight enough to do anything. If you are.

But yes, it can get really surprisingly organic if it needs to, and the cleans are really good.

That's why I said: Yes, the aftermath can do both of those with ease :)

Finally a dude with the same taste of music as me :D

You should think about getting the Parabellum. Which is what i nickname a Humbucker sized Ceramic Pig90. For me its the optimal pickup for death metal, and especially grindcore. Because of its p90 origin, it has that spank which makes tone definition punishing. The other thing is that its still a cpig so its voiced with uber brutal grind!

I have it in my Flying V which is tuned to B. I can obtain sounds between entombed and malevolent creation nail on!

ive looked at it but questioned the clarity- that and i love to play leads and stuff too- how does it do for that? and "ugly" chords as well?

well it does sweet leads too. As you can see i own a fair bit of bkp's. And i must say that i like the para bellum the most. The only thing you really need is a noise supressor in your chain, because its a noisy pickup. But well. All my friends who have tried it had to agree that it was the most awesome pickup they ever tried :)

you made me very curious about your parabellum at the time, but i'm glad i went for a traditional pig90, that studio LP has quite bright highs, and the alnico pig is spot on! but i'm still very curious... :)
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)
