Anyone else using Alonetone to host their stuff?
« on: March 03, 2011, 12:59:16 PM »
I came across Alonetone.com the other day and after prowling around for a bit I decided that's where I want to put my music.

I'd been getting increasingly disenchanted with Soundclick and none of the others I've seen have grabbed me anymore than soundclick did. But something about alonetone said "Come over here Andrew!"

I've now moved all my stuff over. My soundclick is still there at the moment, but I won't be updating it anymore except to delete it at some point.

Not sure Alonetone would be for everyone, but it suits me fine:

1. Free.
2. Huge file size allowed.
3. No ads at all.
4. You can partake of the commenting/etc if you want to or you can use it for just hosting your stuff and ignore everyone else.
5. No genres, it's all music.
6. Your stuff ends up in all sorts of places - apparently I'm on i-tunes, not that I'd know wtf that is, but certainly I've been receiving plays via that.
7. I've already been using it to host the songs I post on songcrafters.org - the songcrafter's player streams or downloads it seamlessly from there... even on my dodgy old laptop.
8. Covers are OK.

A possible downside for some is that by posting you are making your stuff available FREE worldwide for streaming or downloading. If you want, or intend, to try to make any money with your music - it's not the place for you. This would have been me a couple of years ago - but life's too bluddy short, I'd rather people actually heard me.

I'm loving it. There is some SERIOUSLY good music on there - and I'm getting to hear it all :D. And at the same time HUNDREDS of people are listening to me :o (I've had more plays on alonetone in 3 days than I have in as many years on Soundclick).

It won't be for everyone, but it could appeal to you as a place to post music, or as a place to listen to music.

My links are:

Of course, just like Soundclick, my work machine blocks all access to it!

I'll stick to soundcloud thanks.

i like how its straight to the point with the music rather than a load of other gumph!

that does look like a handy site though
