Interesting guitar stores in London?

Well a bit of a generic question but well... it's been a while since I've been in London so I'm wondering what the fun guitar stores are (where they wouldn't mind me just looking around in awe..!)?
I was planning on trying to stop by Denmark Street but I hear it's not quite as interesting these days... What else is there?

Denmark Street has gone down hill since Andy's closed down. It's all the same stuff now and the staff aren't particularly helpful any way. There is one shop just off oxford street which is quite nice but mainly focus' on Jazz guitars.

Vintage and Rare (http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/)  have always got nice stuff in. Started doing a load of boutique type pedals now. Generally have things down the basement not on show. Worth it just to stand in the Clash's old rehearsal space.
Across the road at Angel music (http://www.angelmusicguitars.com/) there are some interesting vintage amps as well as guitars. It's through the ropey looking doors and up the stairs.
Hanks for acoustics ( http://www.hanksguitarshop.com/ ). Wunjo ( http://www.wunjoguitars.com/ )for acoustics and a shot at anything you fancy (great service).
If you're heading to Ivor Mairants then keep walking away from Oxford St and you'll hit Hobgoblin.
Kings Road Guitars ( http://www.newkingsroadguitars.co.uk/guitarshop/Home.html )are a bit of trek from Denmark St but if you're not doing anything else.....
Not as much as a trek as Charlie Chandlers in Kingston though, but they let me fire the '61 LP(SG) Junior through a 1974x at full volume for ages, so I didn't mind the travel

there /are/ interesting guitars on denmark street, but the atmosphere is bad, and bargains can't be had.

Someone should tell Wunjo's web guys that PHP isn't executing on their server. It's dumping source code, any script kiddie with half a brain could empty their database or do any other amount of nastiness there.

Last time I was there, Wujo was great - nice, interesting stuff in stock, and dead friendly staff.

Is Rose Morris still there?  For me, they always typified your classic large, unfriendly music store.

Angel, Wunjo, Vintage & Rare. I don't really go in any of the others except maybe Regents. Mainly because I had a really weird experience trying out a "new" guitar in Music Ground, which actually wasn't new at all. Since they own a bunch of the shops down there I have restricted myself to the few they don't own. Or at least tried to.

I only went to Vintage and Rare. The owner could have just chosen to throw me or off or not be useful but he was quite friendly, I appreciated that. I saw a mint 56 Strat and a stunning 52 Esquire... These guitars honestly dropped a tear in my eye. Absolutely incredible.

They are always nice in VandR and the place is tw@t shredder in dragonforce t-shirt assistant free - In fact tweed suits seem to be the order of the day.  nice.

Vintage and Rare is the only place I've bought anything from on Denmark Street for years now.  Granted the things I've bought from them weren't cheap so you'd expect a certain level of service but even having said that they're always very accomodating and helpful.

last time i went down was last summer and agree V+R was the best one. Rose Morris had hardly any decent stock, the walls were covered with no-name entry level strats for kids and a few electric  drum kits. Rockers- most unfriendly staff EVER.

The only highlight of denmark street was the intrepid fox pub round the corner.

Didn't realise they were close, I hate London and spend most of my time there in a fury paying little attention to the streets, but I've been in the Fox a load of times and Denmark Street too, often on the same day, completely unaware they were near each other :lol:

Kinda fitting, since they could employ the same staff, such is the level of aloofness and unfriendliness in the Intrepid Fox!
