nope. the 1959 and 1987 circuits are a little different I think.

my "home amp" is a blackstar HT-5, and it sounds killer with the HM2 used as an overdrive... pure sunlight tone! if you don't need extreme volumes (but i suspect you do... ;)) it could be an excellent and cheap alternative

iŽd suggest you to get a laney aor 50/100.
they are really nice and grindy.
besides that any older marshall will do the trick with a hm-2
