On an American Tele, yes, they probably are.

They're fine.

Yes, but the ones on an LP probably have long shafts, Tele will have short, solid shafts (for the screw-on knobs)

They do.

250k pots, 0.022 cap. Older/vintage style Teles might have 0.047 caps.
what do most guys upgrade to (values) and why?
On a US Tele, they really don't need upgrading, unless you want a better quality cap. The pots are perfectly good.
