New Guitar Day
« on: June 03, 2011, 11:46:14 AM »

I bought a Tokai ES a year or so ago and hoped it would really itch my semi scratch but alas it didn't.  The neck was too slim and there was not enough hollowness to it.

So enter this, it's a peerless songbird.  £429 with a hard case and I have to say it's just as good as the £1k Tokai!
Okay, perhaps the finishing isn't quite tokai standard, but it's 95% there and it's definitely a step up from the Epiphone Casino's (which are very nice too)

P90's and fully hollow feel great.  The necks lovely too.

I'll either paint the scratchplate from the bottom, remove it or make one

Great stuff Tom. I tried one of these earlier in the year and was very impressed indeed. Looking forward to some clips!
I think I hate being indecisive.

Im liking this a lot.  Very nice indeed. The guitar sounds  very tasty too and blends in nicely with the rest of the band.
Cheers for posting the clips.
I am a  bit relevied though that sounds great seem to have sold a left handed pearless they had in fro a while. This got me thinking about going and giving one a try.

Give me a shout when you got some gigs. I will try and come and have a watch. :D

Thanks Gareth, glad you like them.  We recorded the clips on a little Zoom Q3HD but miced everything up through a desk and output that into the camera.  Really happy with the balance, seems to have worked better than the room mics usually do.

I though I might try to get a bit more used to the new guitar before using it on a recording and jamming with mates etc but leaving my Tele and pedal board at home really payed off.  I felt like a was an ES 330 guy by the end of the jam!

If we do any gigs I'll post on here but in the meantime get yourself to Sounds Great, they didn't have this guitar in stock when I went in but got it for me in 2 days :D

Nice guitar!  A lot like the Epi Casino, but just different enough to be something interesting!

I don't know anything about Peerless, except that they seem to be known for jazz guitars and other hollowbodies.  Where are they made?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

They are made in Korea.  They used to produce OEM stuff for Epiphone and Gretch (probably others as well) before production went to China.  They then decided to produce their own brand and maximise the quality by producing less guitars.

Effectively it is an older Epiphone Casino with a different name...

Nice one :D

I didn't know nothing about Peerless either. Sounds very interesting. I was tempted by Tokais a while back as well, when various folks were succumbing to the semi-GAS... never got round to trying one, though.
