I have a PRS SC250 that I loaded with a set of Mules to replace the stock lifeless PRS pickups today. The guy who did my guitar, Goose(of Gsoniqueworx, maker of the Seventh Heaven pedal) suggested the 50's wiring for maximum versatility and loads of sweet tones. It can have nice tones from vintage to modern tones all with the tone and volume knobs manipulation.
I must say I'm really happy with it as it enhanced the Mules characteristics further. I can roll off the tone knob without getting muddy and all the positions are useable even under heavy gain. The cleans on the Mules, specially the neck, is so articulate and balanced and the feel is natural unlike other humbuckers that tend to have compressed cleans. You guys are so right to state that the Mules is a great all-rounder pickup. All my 3 guitars have Bare Knuckles('63 Veneer for my strat, Blackguard 50's for my Esquire) on them.
Had BKP made Jazzmaster pickups, I'm sure my upcoming Jazzmaster project would have them. And when I get myself a trade of a P90 guitar for my Port City amp, I know I'll be buying those blue note 90s... Sometimes I think I'm buying guitars so I can have excuse to buy BKP's. LOL. What's wrong with me? :?
Thanks to Tim and other members of this forum who have provided insights and clips for the Mule. I couldn't make up my mind between the three vintage output buckers but your inputs helped me choose and I made the right choice. :D
