I have a Jackson RR1 with EMG's (such a shame) and a BC Rich Mockingbird ST with pickups for classic rock.
Of course, I have to change both pairs.
The mahogni Mockingbird is going to be playing in B standard tuning, riffs ala Machine Head.
The alder RR1 is going to be playing in E standard tuning, more djenty, modern riffs, perhaps a bit ala Dream Theater?
I really dig the Aftermath, so I think I'm going to put that in my Jackson (my main guitar) but what to get for the Mockingbird, then? I considered a second set of Aftermaths, but I'm afraid they'll sound too alike, and that would just be boring. Suggestions for what to do? Or should I just throw some EMG's that I have lying around in the Mockingbird?

EMG's don't work in mockingbirds in my experience, my recommendation would be Miracle Men or maybe Nailbombs

I was thinking more of a Painkiller or Warpig? Something to really nail that brutal, growling sound. Wouldn't Nailbombs sound too compressed?

I don't find my ABomb bridge to sound "too compressed" - in fact, given the output level, I was (plaisantly) surprised by the dynamic. The Crawler, which is about the same output level (while with a very different voicing) has more compression (not that I complain about it, it's just enough to help for lead parts but nothing more).

edit: not to say you "should" get a NB, I just wanted to share my impressions about it 8)
