Warpig for neck?
« on: January 22, 2006, 06:18:31 AM »
I am planning to get a Les Paul Special (faded finish) and changing the tuners to schaller locking, and want to change pickups to dimarzio d-sonic bridge and my main question is, how will a warpig be suited as a neck pickup? the neck pickup is used strictly for soloing and solo tone i am looking for is petrucci. the guitar will be tuned a 1/2 step down.

I'd go for a Miracle Man neck, it has a touch more cut but still masses of power.
The other great neck for soloing/shredding is the new Cold Sweat neck, DC8.3K ALnico V.This is a firm fav of Chris Broderick of Jagpanzer and Steve Stevens.

If your looking to get the Petrucci tone cus Petrucci uses " drop sonics " dont go for it. He has a completely different wind on his pickups as apposed to the ones which are sold to the general public.

im not going for petrucci tone in the rythm. the d-sonic is stricking for heavey driven riffing. i love petrucci solo tone - and that is what i want my neck pickup to be for.
