After a brief stop in the bridge of my edwards strat (27 fret, floyd, maple neck through), my Holy diver pickup is moving onto the guitar that I actually bought it for. Unfortunately this leaves me with a dilemma as to what to replace it with...

I need something that I can shred on (weedly weedly high up on the neck!).
I play metal, but nothing super evil or core. (im in e standard)
New pickup should have similar or less output than a HD (I thought it had plenty), and maybe some extra bite in the higher frequencies.

I thoroughly enjoyed the HD in the edwards. Thought it was awesome but I like trying new things so I'm looking for a new pickup for it. I've heard on this forum that the HD and the aftermath have a similar voicing, but the AM is obviously geared more to the tech death guy and may be a bit too "in your face" for me.

I've also been thinking rebel yell. I absolutely loooove the clips on the site, especially the "heavy" one (wicked lead tone). I've heard it's meant for Les Pauls, but my guitar is a fairly acoustically neutral super strat. I love my nailbombs, which the RY is based off of, and the more rock & roll vibe fits well with the style that I play. I'm just worried it wont gel with my strat.

Opinions? Thanks!

I wouldn´t go for Aftermath because there is "no life" for your description...It´s so sterille...I don´t know about Rebel Yell in bright guitar like yours but I belive it can get better results in heavy mahogany....I can recomend Miracle Man....It has nice low end chunk with balanced mids with that extra bite in higher fequencies...It does standard tuning well....For me it´s just best pickup what I heard....

yeah, the aftermath has a very close voicing to the holy diver, but it's a lot louder, more saturated and has a very scratchy picking response, so it doesn't sound as deep and silky as a holy diver

the rebel yell sounds like a nice option, but still related to the holy diver tone (I think the diver was one of the steve stevens prototypes)
the cold sweat could work too, but it's a completely different sound

That is the Rebel Yell.

I actually replaced a Holydiver with a Miracle Man in my alder bodied strat. The MiM has a bit more output which is not what the OP wanted. But as regards the extra bite in the highs it would achieve what he wants.

On a side note, how's the RY neck pickup? On the clips on the site it sounded pretty similar to the Nailbomb neck but then again the clips aren't exactly the same anyways...

I feel it is rather similar to the Cold Sweat neck - vintage level output, very clear and warm, very nice pickup. Somewhere I read it is a cross between the Cold Sweat neck and the VHII neck.
