A few questions about conducters
« on: November 22, 2011, 08:28:06 PM »
Hey all!

Just wondering if I could pick a brain or two about the different conductor wirings and what they should mean to me, as a first time PU buyer. I've tried to find as much info here and in the FAQ as I can, but I admit to still being a little confused about them.

I'm currently sporting a Les Paul Double Cut guitar with the stock 3-way PU switch. Does this have any impact on which wiring I should choose? I know that with the 4 option you have the availability of more switching arrangements, but I'm unsure as to whether or not this is a factor for me, having only a 3 way switch (Neck/Combo/Bridge I'd imagine?), or am I missing the plot here?. Would there be any distinct advantage to the braided 2? If I'm too ignorant to know the advantages of the 4 coil, would I be best sticking with the braided?

Cheers for your time!

For your guitar you could use 2 conductor to retain the same switching options you have now

or you could go with 4 conductor and enable splits/parrallel/phase wiring.

You can also do the standard 2 conductor wiring with 4 conductor pickups.

unless you want the braided wire and want it to be vintage correct i see no reason not to go for 4 conductor
