just an update.
got both a c-pig and holydiver for trial and here's a mini review.
c-pig: massive sounding! did exactly what i needed to fill up the lows and low mids. surprising tight for its eq and sounds great clean too. grainy mids brings out the raw-ness for all out aggression. nice girth on the highs that doesn't make unwound strings sound plinky. only gripe is that my low b sounds a lot louder due to the added lows. will experiment with pole piece height and see if i can dial out some volume.
hd: sounded a tad brighter than the c-pig in my guitar but it is a big improvement over the aftermath that was in it. nice smooth low/high mids and sweet highs for both rhythm and lead. notes seems to bloom with low gain and sounded really sweet when played clean. highly versatile for all sorts or rock, hard rock and metal. i can see this in my hot-rodded single bucker equipped strat.
between the two, the c-pig stays in my guitar due to the girth it adds. it will be perfect if the c-pig has less grainy but smoother mids of the hd and yet retain the fuller tone of the c-pig.
as such, my holydiver 7 is available for sale if anyone is interested. pm for more details.
best,
dani
