So HTH, what would your recommendation be for settings for a huge rock sound with a JCM800? I'm almost there but not quite!

Almost universally most amps in the vein of a JCM800 will sound great with these settings...
bass 6/7
middle 8/10
treble 5/6
presence 5/6
gain 8/9
With 800s, they do need a fair amount of volume to get any real grunt in their stock form. I mod all of mine (and every else I know with 800s) to get round this. Its a few circuit changes and a depth mod, but it makes SO much difference it should be illegal 8)
