BKP Forum-inspired prezzie to myself
« on: December 26, 2011, 01:08:36 PM »
So I got £75 in Amazon vouchers for chrimbo, and I needed to get myself some better headphones for recording...

So I've just ordered myself some Audio Technica ATH M50's!

Thanks to all the guys on here who recommended them, we shall see in a few days if they live up to all that hype.

I got these today, they sound AWESOME!

Thanks to MDV, CaptainDesslock and Roo for influencing this decision, best bit of kit I've invested in for a while!  :D

Hmmm. maybe I should get some too.I hardly ever listen to clips these days because of the cheapo headphones I have -I simply cannot hear any subtleties. I am glad it worked out well for you though.

I think they are defo worth the moolah, probably worth more actually, so I was happy about paying that price. What I like about them is that the sound is so even, right across the frequencies. None of them are drowning out any of the others, and actually, I can hear a lot more detail in songs when I am playing them in Winamp etc than I can with my old headphones or even my actual speakers. I don't know how to explain it, but all the individual instruments just seem to..."pop" I guess. Brilliant clarity for the price!

I can't wait for my voice to come back so I can truly test them out in a vocal recording environment. I have dreaded lurgy at the mo.   :x

Excelent!

I will make everyone use ATHM50s

They are that awesome. nadz' description is not hyperbole; that is what they do, pretty much. Balance, low and high extension, detail, seperation.

They're also the cheapest of my main 4 sets of headphones and I hardly ever use any of the others (though one has an excuse, being radio headphones).
