Matching neck pickups...
« on: January 19, 2012, 09:23:13 AM »
Okay, in a perfect world, I would just sell all my SD pickups.

I am 90% of the time a bridge pickup player.

I am building a PRS Style guitar, mahogany body with flame maple cap (1 Piece back, 2 piece bookmatched flame, finished in transparent black) USA Custom guitars maple neck at the moment. I may make a mahogany neck at some point to replace that.

I have a miracle man bridge pickup to use. Now I want a mm neck to go with it at some point, but for now, I am sticking with what I have.

Would a SD Jazz be okay as a neck pickup temporarily to match with the MM Bridge? I ask because it seems like the MM might be roughly the output of a JB. This is only a stopgap measure, but funding is a little tight right now.

Since the strings vibrate more at the neck you can do fine with a lower output model. No surprise that there are so many HSS or H-S configured guitars on the market. Tim also mentioned once to me that the Crawler neck would work well with the Miracle Man in the bridge. So I would just go for it. You can always upgrade later if you like the guitar otherwise.
