Tele Bridge Pup for a Parts-caster

Hey BKP enthusiasts.

Got some great advice on pickups for my SG and like all good people affected with severe GAS I promptly got my hands on another guitar that needs some Bareknuckles; once you play the best its really tough to deal with cr@p-ass pickups. I picked up my new parts-caster over the weekend and so far am pretty pleased with it. Its got some serious mojo (and by mojo I mean a mismatched neck, weird ass control cavity route and needs some serious dialing in). In its current configuration it has an old looking Gibson humbucker at the neck (the shop that sold it doesn't really even know what it is) and they tossed in a random standard tele pick up at the bridge that just doesn't have any balls. Any advice on a BKP that would go well with a humbucker neck? My style of play is mostly blues-rock based (think Black Keyes/Jack White) so I need something that isn't thigh-slapping-cowboy-hat-wearing-tobacco-chewing-I-met-my-wife-at-a-family-reunion twangy but has more of a growl and a bit of punch that doesn't get slapped around by the higher output neck pup.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you want a classic rounded broadcaster tone with serious balls: BG50 bridge (10K), just listen the metalclip on the BKP-site.
For a contemporary sound: Piledriver. Sounds great too, just more modern then the BG.

BG50 or 52 should work just fine. I have the 52, and it has a great combination of roar and classic Tele twang and is already quite powerful, the new 50 should have even more low-end and power.

I have a Flat 52 and a Piledriver in my two Teles. The Piledriver has lots of wallop, no twang at all and a very compressed tone. It's very modern sounding and I'm not sure it's the weapon of choice for blues.

I love the Flat 52, it can twang but has enough power to get some pretty tasty tones out of a good amp and I'd say it's a great blues pickup.

You might also consider, though I have no experience of, The Boss or Yardbird perhaps for more output but still a bit vintagey?

I have the BG-52. It shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.

Good growl, enough punch with a bit of drive, becomes very fat with the tone backed off a bit.

A buddy of mine has the BG50. It spends all his money on booze and hookers. Blues fat and punk rock punch.

Thanks - I live in red neck central and get so sick of "country twang". But the guitar is a tele, so go figure.

Thanks all for the feedback, it sounds like the Pilediver or Flat 50 would be the best options for me. Just need to figure out which one would be the best fit. Guess I need to watch some more youtube vids.

Given the playing style and bands you mentionned, I'd go for the Flat50 - but if in doubt (and even if not): AskTim(tm).

Just ordered a Mississippi Queen and BG Flat 50. I'll post a clip once I've got them installed. Thanks for the feedback!

Also - figured out what the humbucker is - its a Maxon from like mid 70s or something. If anyone has any info on Maxon's from the 70s I'd love to hear it, personally I think it sounds like complete shitee in the tele, especially compared to the Stormy Monday's I've got in my SG. But it might be a bad pairing or something....

Looking foreward to hearing some clips. I think you have made a great choice. I haven't tried the BG 50 but I love the MQ neck.

Looking forward to the MQ almost more than the Flat 50 - I waffled about getting a MQ neck for my SG for months before deciding on a pair of SMs. Really glad I did now as I feel like the SMs are just a bit truer to the spirit of the SG. Either way I figure whatever I get is going to be worlds better than shite in it currently. Actually might try swapping the the MQ and Neck SM around down the road just to see what the MQ sounds like in the SG.
