Looking for heavy Djent pickups!
« on: January 27, 2012, 06:46:52 PM »
Hey guys,

I've been looking into BKP for a while now, but need some advice about pickups (what else?:P)!
I'm into progressive metal, melodic death metal, black metal and a LOT OF DJENT! Basically I'm looking for a Djent style kind of pickup, but it also needs to be able to do a lot melodic riffing similar to melodeath.
The guitar I'm going to put them in is an Ibanez RGD7421, so I also need to know if I need the standard spacing or the wide spacing size.

Overall I'm looking for a massive and heavy sound, with very very pronounced mids and top end sparkle. The pickups I'm looking into are the Aftermath-7 and the Painkiller-7. But if you have any other suggestions (or if BKP can build me one) that would be great!

Kind regards from The Netherlands,

Mark

Painkiller, Aftermath, agree with your description.  I would suggest the Nailbomb-C, too.  Although it isn't pronounced in the mids as much as the others from what I have read.

Best bet, contact Tim and ask him.  You can ask Nolly, too.  They are bother very knowledgeable, polite, and communicative.

Good Luck!

I suggest that you forget the guitar for the moment, and take up the study of music.

That can be taken the wrong way easily.  Some one is asking for pickup advice.  How do you access whether or not a person has experience or skill regarding their own style.  The quoted comment seem condescending.  Not stating that is the case, but either way, is it appropriate or helpful in any way?

Uhm dudes, experience is not a problem at all, been playing for 9 years, studied music etc... haha! I'm just looking for a pickup to ''accentuate'' my playing style! :)

Hi Mark and welcome!
You're on the right track with either Aftermath or Painkiller. I guess you read the descriptions and listened some clips. For a final decision I would ask the BKP-team for a recommendation.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Thank you :)

I've heard the Aftermath in a Periphery clip, and man, does it sound brutal! But I'll ask for a second opinion at the BKP team! Thanks a lot guys, if I have any further questions, I'll let you notice!

Mark,
