Anyone here try this pickup? What didnt you like, or like about it?

What BKP is most similar to it?

a) Don't talk about other pickup manufacturers.
b) Why do you want a SIMILAR pickup?

If you want something like a Crunch Lab. Get a Crunch Lab.

I'm not picking on you, but in essence you're just spending more money for no reason.

i'd probably go for a miracle man myself (just based on the crunch lab eq curve and specs)

I've used various DiMarzios' in the past. It's safe to say I won't be using any ever again, and I'm not paid by Tim to say that.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

I've had a few, thought they were OK myself considering the price you can get them for in the US. Changed them all to BKPs though with no regrets in any case. Might try some of their more modern hum cancelling single coils having said that.

Tought to say, two different beasts.  The miracle man will be brighter than the Crunch lab, BUT, probably tighter.  I would say the nailbomb probably, maybe holy diver as a not so close second.  The BKs (being handwound) have a more detailed high end, which, with its deep complexity, also means it generally has an extended high end.  The crunch lab will not have QUITE the dynamic depth of most BK pickups, but will sound rounder.  Ive used 6 BK models, and 8 dimarzios, and I currently use a dimarzio in the bridge, and BK in the neck.

I tried it in a few EBMM Petrucci sigs and it sounded really weak and nasal to me. The sound had no balls no matter what I played it through (Mesa Mark V, Dual Rectifier, Marshall Slash Sig) and it was very dry sounding IMO. I can't really say anything good about, the Liqufire's a different story though...
