Less hot MM for a Suhr Modern?
« on: February 20, 2012, 02:14:30 PM »
I have a 7 string schecter (mahogany body and neck) with MMs in it that I absolutely love, which is used for metal. I recently bought a Suhr Modern (mahogany body and neck) that I want to use for more fusion, pop, rock stuff - now I love the MMs but I think they are probably too hot for the stuff I want to play with th Suhr but I'd like something in the bridge with less power but a similar characteristic?

Also want a neck pup that can be split to do some clean funk comping etc?

Tim suggested I put in a ceramic nailbomb bridge and alnico nailbomb in the neck, and looking at the ceramic nailbomb profile it does seem to approximate a less hot MM.

Any other suggestions or thoughts on bridge or neck options?

Tim's suggestion is a good one, given that you like the Miracle Man and want something similar with a bit less output.

An alternative would be the Holydiver bridge with a Cold Sweat neck - less output on both pickups and a warmer tone on the bridge. Can't comment on the Nailbomb neck since I never played one.

Cheers Stephan
