Best fit for that Rio Grande BBQ sound
« on: February 26, 2012, 09:26:01 PM »
Looking to change the bridge pickup on my SC245 from a nailbomb for something tamer (I still have nailbombs in my custom 22 if I want things to get a little nasty).

I really like the sound of the BBQ in this clip around 1min30

So, as BBQ's are tough to find in the uk, which bare knuckle puts me in firmly into this territory....Black dog?

Another vote for the Crawler - certainly the closest to the BBQ.

I agree. Crawler comes close. Both thick, warm and growling.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Yet another vote for Crawler. Have had BBQ and Crawler in my Les Paul. Similar but Crawler has the BKP magic.
Although I now have an unpotted calibrated set of Mules in the Les Paul, I have Crawlers in my old Ibanez edr470 which work very well (plus a Slow Hand single coil in the middle position) and a blower switch!
