I had them in the same guitar (a PRS Single Cut). The A-Bomb has more bass, less mids and is a bit less smooth in the highs. The HD is fatter in the mids, sounds a bit more open but is very smooth in the highs.

Cheers Stephan

I agree with Stephan on this.  Very accurate!!!

I'm thinking in a Mahogany (although thin) Ibanez S series may suit the Holy Diver in that case. I'll have to try the A-Nailbomb someday though. I've only ever tried the C-Bomb.

I liked my Holy Diver, do you still think it would be better for Power Metal as it involves a lot of leads, solos, and fast alternate picked riffs?

Both pickups should work well for that. I believe you can't go wrong with either. If the guitar is a bright sounding one, I would go for the Diver.

What are the best neck pickups in the whole BK lineup?

I have the Cold Sweat, the VHII, the Abraxas, the Crawler and the Rebel Yell and like them all for various reasons and with the guitars they are in. I definitely could not pick a single one as "the best". There is no single "best" pickup - it's what works best for you with your guitar and set up.

I'm asking which neck pickups in the entire line that are the most talked about and work with over bridge pickups instead of the matched pairs.

All of the neck pickups mentioned are talked much about here - the Cold Sweat and VHII being talked about the most. Just do a search and you will see all the combinations in which these pickups are used. Popular matches for the CS neck - apart from the full set - are the Holydiver (I have that, too), Alnico and Ceramic Nailbomb and Miracle Man. The VHII neck is often paired with the Rebel Yell or A-Bomb (I have the latter combination). I use the Cold Sweat bridge with an Abraxas neck in one guitar but I learned that CS bridge and Painkiller neck is a popular shredder combination.

I think Holy Divers have the right characteristics for Power Metal

they don't lack treble at all, in fact i find them very balanced. alnico 5 magnets give a 'sweet' tone and the bridge is good and thick.

For my taste the best neck pickups to be paired with the Diver bridge are the Diver neck and the Emerald neck if you want it clearer and a tad brighter. Emerald neck is my all time favourite neck model!

I know what to expect from the bridge, it's just deciding on the neck. Actually here's a good way of putting it. Which neck humbucker between the CS and HD has the best tone to play shredding, clean and slow ballady all packed into one unit?

It's a very nice pickup :) I'm just using this guitar for Power Metal now, so need something a bit more Organic and less Output.

Sounds like the Holy Diver Neck. Would Work real well in kinda Euro Power Metal situations. Smooth and organic. If going for that American sound, might have to play a bit to get that bite going
