The HD has more center- and uppermids, but a rounded topend. More modern sounding then the VHII which I consider as the ultimate PAF-ish (hard)rockpickup. I have it in an ash Fender American Series. It's very balanced, with enough bass, good mids and nice open topend, not shrill even in ash. With some gain it's totally wicked. Great harmonics when you dig in. Very touchsensitive. Cleans up great too. The voicing helps to get your tapping through the mix. I totally love the tones. The VHII will not sounds as big as the beefier HD, it has a brighter voice, though not a sheep either.
