two 2x12's vs one 4x12
« on: April 10, 2012, 06:33:13 PM »
Anyone really had a go at comparing this kinds of setups.
I've read that the 2x12's method is meant to have tighter bass and be a bit more articulate, but does anyway have any practical experience with doing it?

awesome. I'll await MDV!

I think having two 2x12's would mean people could come round and jam. have a bunch of amps and only one cab is anti social!
and transport would be easier to small places, and playing a 2x12 stack would probably look bigger than a single 4x12, and would therefore be cooler.

Indeed... But:

and transport would be easier to small places,

While each 2x12 will be easier to move than a 4x12, in the end two 2x12 will weight more and use more space in your car.

This being said, I definitly wonder why they are so few closed back 4x10s cabs.

When I say easy to transport I mean I'd have the option of not taking a 4x12. I don't often use my 4x12 unless a van is involved, and if I get a taxi to a gig its always inside london and I usually use addison lee, who always send ford galaxy's. So maybe I wouldn't notice any more hardship than normal?

I found a great solution when i experienced playing through a Thiele 1x12 with anEVM12L...WOW-I immediately bought another and it sounds huge...and so much easier than lugging around the ol' 4x12,...or 2  2x12, for that matter
