Congrats bud! They really do have that extra something when you crank the amp, so get ready!

What are they like for Instrumental styles? After trying the Holy Divers, I wanted something with more high end cut, but still a great lead pickup. Something which is organic and very musical. Let us know how they clean up too, and how touch sensitive and open they are. Obv I'm guessing they'll have a bit more of a compressed sound, but I was looking for something bang on between too open, and not open enough, if you follow?

I'm going to be ordering mine a week this Friday when I get paid, so just kinda doing a bit of last minute research haha.

Also let us know what you think about the neck pickup. I'm torn between the RY and the Emerald atm so interested to know :)

Mich,

With the limited time I 've had with the pickups my opinion is that the neck pickup is fantastic. More so than I expected.  Before I bought the pickups I asked Tim if he recommended a matched Rebel yell set, or another neck pickup for extreme fender cleans and he recommended the matched RY set. He was right on the money. It is smooth, lush and full, you can get some nice warm and clear clean blues/jazzy tones. With some dirt it is clear and sweet for nice juicy lead tones.

The bridge is a monster of course. I adjusted the height of the set about 1/8 inch towards the strings from how they were set up at the shop and I think I like them much more at this setting.  Still have not had a chance to play them at live/rehearsal volumes yet. So ymmv.  So far I am very pleased with the pickups. They seem to be extremely versatile for my playing needs.  Blues, rock, alternative, jazzy tones, leads, rhythm, raunchy in your face hard rock, etc...Love em. One note about the pickups is that they are not as forgiving as some more compressed pickups that tend to mask sloppiness.

Good luck with your choice.

Cheers,

Tom

Not like it's a total bad thing, at least it should give you that little kick in the arse to get that extra bit of practice in!

Acolmztli,

I am not able to record a demo of the pups at this point.

There are some great demos by Steve himself available though.

Cheers,

Tom
