Car towed... Any advice?

Ok, so we've got some clever people on here, so here's a shot in the dark!

So my car got towed this morning between 2am and 7am... Apparently it was causing an obstruction (not sure about this, I guess I'd need to see a photo to prove it), it was on a single yellow, and was within the time restrictions (Monday to Saturday 8am to 7pm). Now obviously quite annoyed about this, first time it's happened to me, and it's going to cost me a fortune (the car will already have cost me about £650 this month before this fine!! Tax, repairs, insurance :( )

So does anyone have any advice on getting costs reduced, or contesting the towing?

To make it doubly annoying, I'd been on a date too, so I wasn't even at home... So I'm stuck in slough at the moment until I can get my car back to drive to oxford and go to work! Rubbish!

Just sat in a starbucks at the moment as the place that towed it doesn't have reception until 9, at least I've got free wifi.

If you where parked within the time limits then the only reason you could have your car towed is if it was causing an obstruction without you being notified. I'd definitely ask to see photo evidence of the obstruction before you do anything else! Good luck!

You say it was on a 'single yellow'.
As far as I know, that means 'NO PARKING'.  :(

Pretty sure that single yellow is restricted parking, usually restricted by time limits.

Turns out that opposite where I was parked were some residents parking bays (which were empty when I was parking-- didn't park in them because I didn't have a residents permit), and at some point another vehicle parked there, which then made the gap too narrow for an emergency vehicle to pass through. Kind of begs the question as to why it wasn't a double yellow, as the time restrictions of the single yellow become moot.

An expensive 2nd date, clocking in at £150!

I haven't driven for years, but I'm begining to believe that what's really driving these rules and laws is actually revenue collection (like some folks have tried to convince me for as long as I can remember) rather than safety and the other stuff that we think the rules are meant to be about.

That would really p1ss me off. Not just the money, but that I'd fallen into some sort of trap that I should have been able to avoid.

Anyway, try not to let it influence your opinion of the young lady. Just think of what you could say to your grandchildren:
"Your Granny cost me an arm and a leg on our second date - £150!! But I still married her..."
"Yeah, wotever Grandad, that's very interesting... can I have my £500 pocket money now?"

I guess, going by 'the rules', it made sense to tow you.. but of course this is really lame, though possible to anticipate in hindsight, I probably would have done the same thing myself and parked there.
