4x12 as Hi-Fi Speakers
« on: February 20, 2006, 12:04:43 PM »
A while back I wanted to listen to my hi-fi in another room.  Not having a spear hi-fi or speakers I ran a cable off the amp's 2nd speaker output into an old Marshall 4x12 in the next room.

Now here's the interesting part, my hi-fi's not to shabby but early 70's rock sounded incredible through the 4x12.  I've never heard Derek & the Dominos sounding so good.  Modern stuff of various genre's sounded a bit muddy but for old rock it was like a match made in heaven.

Has any one else tried this?  I've always wondered if I was just imaging the sonic match between early 70's vinyl and an early 70's cab.  And does Bell Bottom Blues sound better still played back through a Fender Champ?
Mother's Milk.  Mullard.  Cornford.  Mmmmm....
