I'm putting in an IT neck and middle and a trilogy bridge - so took off the covers to put on my custom made bone ones.
So I noticed that the wiring is a different colour...
Anyone know why thi is - ie. different type of wire and what it does for tone etc??

Cheers.

I don't think Tim get his wire from Stewmac

If you refer to the product description for the IT and TS, you will find out that IT is wound with plain enamel and TS with modern polysol.

I think ITs have the darker coloured insulation - the "plain enamel " whilst the TS will have the orangy coloured Polysol (polyester solderable insulation)

Yep, different wire as the guys have discussed.  The thinner wire used on the Trilogy Suite means you can have more winds for more power and (generally speaking) a thicker tone.

The thinner wire also has a much higher DC resistance, which is why the TS has about twice the DC resistance of the IT (but doesn't mean it has twice the "output"!)
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM
