Warpigs Doing Black Metal

Hey everyone,

My band is currently recording our second CD, and I finally convinced the other guitar player to swap his EMG81 for some Knuckles, and he is loving it! 8)

Give this a listen and tell me what you think.  This is a demo of a new song that we released, and it is self produced and any input on the mix is more than welcome.

The left guitar is a Fernandez, with a Cpig in the bridge; and I'm the right guitar with a San Dimas and an Apig in the bridge.  We were both using Peavey Revalver in Sonar 8.

I don't listen to Black Metal either nor do I like it usually but very impressive. Dramatic/Epic. I like it! :)

I love the Pigs.  I used to have the mentioned Cpig in the same Charvel, but sold it to the other guitar player.  I think that San Dimas had a Miracle Man in it, at one point, before I installed the Apig.  I love the Apig, an insane amount of organic grind, and still tight enough for extreme metal styles.

Out of all the contemporary range, I think I like the Abomb and the Aftermath the most.  I haven't tried the Holydiver or BlackHawk yet, but I have a feeling I would love the Holydiver. :)

The Diver is amazing, harmonically rich, smooth top end, organic and punchy mids and defined but polite low end and tight for an A5 Pickup. Just make sure to adjust the pickup height the right way and find the sweet spot or else you're gonna suffer the same problem with it I did :P

I dig the video/clip, and the music.  I use an A5 Warpig in a Les Paul.  My favorite pickup so far.

I cannot hear guitar well, because it is deep in the mix, but overall sound is cool :) As  I understand, you have used a lot of reverb on a whole mix, is this black metal sound feature?

Thanks!  Riftwalker, I think it is just a matter of personal preference.  We were going for a very big, wall of sound on this song.  That being said, I do think a lot of black metal is similar in the approach of not being so much riff oriented, and going more for a huge, over-all sound.

Some of the other tracks that will be on the CD are more guitar driven, and are pushed to the front of the mix a bit more than this one.
