I agree with the less complicated the better. I was tempted by the PRS Mira when it came out, nice simple guitar. I'd miss the binding tho. I played a walnut '69 SG special. That was a pleasant experience. I'd always be worried about breaking it, so I passed.
I'm not surprised the tone has improved with this mod. The inserts the regular Gibson bridge mounts on are pretty weedy. The Duesenberg inserts go nearly through the body, so very good for resonance.
RE: Blanking the holes....The bridge comes with short black screws that fit the tailpiece stud threads. They have a wide head, allen key type. Kind of a blanking solution I guess. If you like black. It also came with some chrome/nickel blanking screws but they're a different wider thread.
Along with the blanking screws they give you allen keys for adjusting the bridge height and intonation.
Pretty pleased with it, worked out to about £60 so not cheap. But considerably cheaper than some of the full width aftermarket wraparounds out there.
