Hey guys!
NBD
I had a birthday this month and I got a nice little Ephiphone MB200, a 5 string resonator banjo. I am really pleased with the looks of it, the eagle on the back alon is sweet, and it is great fun to play other stringed instruments.
Really Sufjan Stevens is guilty for me getting one and it really is amazing for folky things.
Took a bit of setup work as the factory did a rather poor job of it and that is coming from someone who didnīt know anything about banjo setups before this.
Now it sounds much better. Also it is fun that I can easily take off the resonator and have a cool open back banjo,
All in all a nice instrument after a setup. Playing it also gives you new ideas and influences for guitar playing =)
Belated NMD! Also a bit earlier I got myself a used mandolin. Got what I think is a good deal on an old MIJ Suzuki mandolin. I hear different things about their quality, but this one I like. Playes well, can take a lot of strumming punishment without sounding shitety and has a nicely bright cutting tone with enough substance.
For someone with my kind of finger it is still hard to play as the frets really are freaking small but playing things like Amazing Grace on it (again Sufjan Stevens style) is a joy and it is wonderul in playing with an acoustic guitar.
Now my other acoustic instrument collection includes a banjo, a mandoline, a ukulele and a dulcimer. All amazing in adding to an acoustic arangement and playing with an acoustic guitarist.
Wonder what is next...
Now for quickly shot pics! Gotta up my gear shots in the future...
