So, I've decided to upgrade the pickup in my guitar!
Problem is, i ain't got a clue as to what to choose here.
the guitar in question is a maple(!) bodied SG, with a mahogany neck and a roasted maple fretboard.
It sports a wraparound bridge, ONE pickup and just two shallow front routed for a volume knob and an output jack.
The pickup that's in there now is a Gibson 491T, which is supposedly a Gibson 490(or PAF-esque) pickup with a ceramic magnet for more bite.
The guitar doesn't sound bad in any regard, quite the contrary - it sounds angry as hell. It's aggressive and has lots of attack and sustain on board with lots of growl on tap.. That's where the problem lies though.
For the style of music I play the pickup is quite lacking.
I play death metal very similar to the style of The Black Dahlia Murder / At the Gates and such, hardcore influenced at times even. Oh, and the occasional djent adventures with big chords.
I was thinking about the warpig pickup with a ceramic pickup that should vibe well with maple, but I have NEVER had a maple bodied guitar, let alone an SG before, so I'm riddled.. The miracle man was also recommended to me, though I don't think it is my cup of tea.
Here's a link to a raw pre production clip of my in-the-works EP so you can see what I kind of sound like right now.
Recorded with the stock Gibson 491T pickup.

Thanks in advance,
