DPD (MXR 6-band EQ)

Dud pedal day!  Yay!

I just received an MXR 6-band EQ pedal via Star Track Express Premium courier from Queensland.  The guy who sold it to me second-hand doesn't seem to have sold anything on ebay before and probably didn't realize that couriers tend to use parcels for football practice, or at least don't pay much mind to how they handle them unless you cover the parcel with gigantic FRAGILE stickers.  He put it inside an old Boss NS-2 box he had lying around and simply put one layer of bubble wrap around it, I suppose so that the black finish wouldn't rub?  I don't know.  Anyway because it was so loosely packed and most likely roughly handled what was a '100% working' pedal when he packed it is now '100% dead' with the mechanical part of the footswitch broken away from the board and the board floating around inside.  I found this out after trying to power it up with my T-Rex power supply and found it to be completely unresponsive.

So, if you ever send one of these 'rugged' pedals through the post, make sure it can't move around in its box!

I hope one day to have a functioning MXR 6-band EQ.  In the meantime I've requested a Paypal refund.  He'll probably flame my feedback.  Personally I find the feedback of a person who doesn't give it straight away on receipt of payment to be worthless anyway.

I believe now ebay allows sellers to leave positive feedback only. So you're feedback will be fine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_eBay#Feedback_system

Thanks, that's good to hear.  I've been on ebay since 2001 and it used to be a real problem.

Mind you they still have some leverage over those wanting to build up their positives, but not much.  I'm guessing though that sellers might still be able to leave negatives for buyers if and only if there is no paypal payment recorded within a reasonable period.  I'm not sure.  But my attitude has always been that the seller should leave positive feedback after receiving payment if the payment has been received within a reasonable time, rather than after they have received positive feedback themselves.  A good seller will do that.  I usually pay immediately - the only exception being sellers who have a physical shop front or who have advertised it somewhere else as those often have sold out of the item (this happened with the Triple Shots I ordered, and I am waiting for the seller to tell me that he has them in before paying) - and my feedback back to 2001 is 100% positive, right back to the days when I used to buy greenbacks and stuff them in envelopes concealed with pieces of paper! (when I didn't have a debit card)

This seller has been cool though, and has offered to refund the money in full without me returning the pedal.  When he does I'll leave him positive feedback.  Who knows, I might even be able to repair the unit if my soldering skills are up to removing the existing 3DPT switch and installing a new one.  I'm not sure what solder is on the board though.

EDIT: I received a full refund.  I gave the seller excellent feedback.  I might be able to fix it with a $6 3PDT switch and some solder.  I'll give it a try.  I probably need to buy a 40W soldering iron though, as I only have a 25W with a 'boost' to 90W.  I also eventually received the Triple Shots when that seller got new stock

Ordered the wrong switch.  Obviously I am still getting used to my new glasses!
